Silly Love Songs

Dave Ratzlow recorded our very first tracks so long ago in Anne's bedroom in Queens. He brought some kind of machine he bought on ebay and a microphone in his backpack. The walls were thin and there might not have been actual doors between the bedrooms. We had to make Blair turn off his Madonna so we could record (I swear he was listenting to Vogue). I believe we recorded Gay Boyfriend, Magic Ukulele and something else I can't remember.

Dave's been working on his own album and we've been dying to hear it for what seems like forever. Now it's finally done. Silly Love Songs! Rumor is that some of the songs have like 40 tracks on them. Wow! The Hazzards play ukulele on his song At The Zoo, which you can listen to on his site. Dave is nice and awesome. We love him. Also, he is friends with a lot of really beautiful women.

Dear Diary: Parents just don't understand.

Dear Diary,
Today we were hanging out in the kitchen and Mom came in to ask us where exactly she could find the hip hop community. WE'RE NOT KIDDING! Dad came home from his Republican Town Committee Meeting just then too and also wanted to know. THEN they asked us what hip hop sounds like: "Is it called hip hop cause there's a lot of jumping in the dance moves?"

We told them the hip hop community was located in Weymouth, MA and left in a hurry.

SO EMBARRASSING.

Some Internet Radios

Dear Blog,

The internet is so complicated. The Hazzards are on the playlists of some possibly awesome internet radio stations. But I can't really tell what they're like because the firewall at work won't let me listen to "media". It also won't let me visit anything dirty or any site labeled "personal". Anyway, here are the possibly awesome radio internets:
  • Babes in Boyland - These girls from France have very cute cartoons on their site, but that's all I know. I can't tell what song of ours they're playing because of my firewall.
  • Flat Four Radio - This UK site features "Girl Beer" on their program "The Ock Show". They describe the show as "Some music. Presented by an Ock." So, what's an Ock?
We are also featured in AM New York today listing our Top 5 Places to Hear Interesting Music. We're not allowed to look at "personal" websites at work, but I guess we are allowed to read the paper, because a ton of people at the office have mentioned how famous I am today. (Totally famous!) Historians will note that this is the first time the cocktail "Casino Royale" appears in print.

Love,
Sydney

A Thought About Paul

Dear Blog,

Our harp player Paul is making a new play called The Snow Hen. Here are some sentences describing the play:
The populations of the world have been decimated in a global plague. A little girl has survived...and she is growing feathers. Her lonely existence is broken by a haunted wanderer who crashes into her world. They fall for each other and then fall apart.

He's very smart and talented.

Here's another story about Paul--sort of:

Paul is mad that girls never notice his harp on the subway. Paul thinks that girls would love to see a guy with a harp on the L train and they would love to talk to him and try to ask him on dates, but they don't. Anne and I thought that maybe it was because nobody could tell it was a harp when it was in its case. When we were waiting for the G after band practice, Paul was on the Greenpoint side, Anne and I were on the Brooklyn side. We called out to him "What is that, a harp?" from across the tracks, so all the cute girls would know what was in his case.

One time Will Rawls, who is a dancer and is friends with my friend Jennifer (who lives in San Francisco), and who I think is really nice but only ever see him when Jennifer is in town, was talking to Jennifer, because she was in town. He was telling Jennifer a funny story about how he saw me one time in the subway and I was making fun of this girl's date outfit. Then I met up with them and he told the story to me.

Will Rawls was waiting for the G train to Greenpoint in Williamsburg. There was a girl standing near him who was obviously dressed up for a date. She was wearing all red, like she was dressed up like a heart or something, only it wasn't Valentine's day, so it was weird. Then he thought he saw Sydney with some other girl waiting for the train across the tracks. The were giggling and looking at the girl in red. They called out across the tracks "What is that, a heart?" And then they laughed and walked to the other end of the platform.

Love,
Sydney
