Shut Up & Makeout Sneak Peek!! Posted by Hello

Glitter, glitter, sequins, glitter

Dear Blog,

Guess what we did this weekend. . . . We shot a NEW VIDEO! It's for our song Shut Up and Make Out. Of course, it was soooo awesome!

The crew and the technical team were amazing and when I got to peek through the monitor it looked unbelievable. Anne and I were wearing gold sequined dresses and makeup fit for a drag queen. The production design and the movie star lighting blew my mind! We got 35 of our friends in a room and made them makeout in front of the camera for us. That was pretty nice of them. My boyfriend was too busy being AD, so I was assigned another makeout partner. Anne's boyfriend broke his hand the night before the shoot, so she got a last minute makeout partner replacement, too. It was extremely strange to have Oliver come in and give me notes from the director on how to kiss someone else. He was pretty cool about it, but it made me feel so weird.

Seriously, I don't know how I am going to wait a whole month for this thing to get edited. Big shout outs to everybody who helped and who kissed!

There was gold glitter everywhere, and I still have one clump glued to my eyelid that I can't get off. Everyday I sweep up all the sequins in my apartment, but everyday there are mysteriously more.

Oh my god, I can't wait to see our new video!

Sydney

"Gay guys are the best!"

Dear Blog,

Somehow we missed our interview in HX last week...

Artist to Talk About: The Hazzards

Once upon a time, Sydney Maresca and Anne Harris (aka The Hazzards, who perform monthly at hipster haunt Galapagos), produced a video for their ukulele/Casio track “Gay Boyfriend” and posted it on the Internet. Within months, it had been downloaded a million times. Their American debut, the EP So Pretty, is a witty indie pop gem. I chatted with the girls recently about their love for music and ’mos.

BB How did you two meet?
SM Friends introduced us because we both play ukulele.
AH They said, “You guys are weird. Talk to each other.”
BB What attracted you to the ukulele?
SM It’s small and cute.
BB What’s the source of your lyrics?
AH Our lives. “Shut Up and Make Out” is about guys who talk too much instead of getting busy.
SM And “Gay Boyfriend” is about our straight boyfriends being mean to us and our gay boyfriends being great.
AH Gay guys are the best!

Will you grab a copy for us next time you're at Therapy, Blog?

Love,
Sydney

P.S. Did you know that HX stands for Homo Xtra? They said so themselves. Awesome!

Dear Diary: Our Benjamin Franklin Report

Dear Diary,
Today we gave our stupid oral report on Benjamin Franklin to the whole class. In addition to all that flying a kite in a lightening storm stuff, we also talked about how he was famous for being a scientist, an inventor, a statesman, a printer, a philosopher, a musician, and an economist. And also he lived in Philadelphia. We reeeaaaally need extra credit- we're still grounded from last term's D in work habits! So we thought it was a great idea to dress up in knickers, a grey wig, and glasses (we even stuffed our coat because Benjamin Franklin was kind of fat). Mrs. Cioffari seemed to like it but eveyone else said we looked stupid. And it kind of made us sweat a lot.

We hope we got an A. Man, do we miss Jack in the Box (and eating ketchup packets with Kelly.)

Faking It

Yeah, so it's not Project Runway, but I am on an episode of Faking It (as a designer, not a ukulele pop star). It airs tonight on TLC at 10pm.

When they were taping it, we had no idea what the show was, all they told us was: It's a reality show about designers, it's going to be fun, and, "Don't worry, we're not going to do anything mean."

Turns out, we're all trying to pass a test as "Fashion Designers" in front of a panel of judges. And one of us isn't really a fashion designer, she's from the army and just back from Iraq!

If you are at home and have cable, let me know if I embarass myself too much--or if they did anything mean in post-production.

Love,
Sydney

P.S. See you in Philadelphia next week!

Horseballs.

Hi blog,
I think I speak for Sydney when I say that A) Horses are pretty. B) We wish someone would buy us a horse or pony. ...and C) If we did have a horse or a pony we would definitely let him play with THIS. That would be the best.

Anne

Together again...

Ahh, remember when we played with The Bravery at the Cutting Room just about a year ago? ...And a highschool jazz band opened for us all? Now the Bravery dudes are selling out venues all over the place and (allegedly) have no time for even Kate Moss. Way to go, SAM!!

You can find The Hazzards and The Bravery together again, on this awesome blog: http://chartrigger.blogspot.com.

Just like the good old days, only on the world wide information super highway.

Anne

DEAR DIARY: Spiral Curls are so Cute!

Dear Diary,

We can’t believe we thought it was a good idea to get a home perm. Hannah came over yesterday and gave us perms while our mom was at the grocery store. We gave Hannah Sun-In. We were going to be so cute with spiral curls!

We guess we didn’t read the instructions right, because it smelled like burning hair and stung like crazy. When we took it out, it was straight in front and curly on the sides. Now we look like poodles with flattops. So embarrassing! (We even cried once—don’t tell!) Do you think anyone would notice if we wore a hat until it grows out? We have a really cute velvet hat, but everyone calls us Blossom when we wear it. What’s worse, being called a poodle or being called Blossom? Maybe we’ll just wear French braids. Perms stink!

Sydney & Anne
